Drug Court Graduation 08/26/10
The most recent drug court graduation ceremony was held at the Will County Office Building on Thursday, August 26, 2010. Seventeen (17) participants graduated. This ceremony also marked the graduation of the 250th Drug Court participant.
The Will County Public Defender's Office congratulates all graduates on their achievement and wishes them continued success in their sobriety. Drug Court is a voluntary multi-phased diversionary drug treatment program. Once a defendant is referred by his/her attorney to the program, he/she is evaluated to determine whether the program can offer sufficient treatment services to him/her. If services exist, the defendant must enter a plea of guilty to the pending charges. Instead of being sentenced, he/she will be placed into treatment according to the results of the evaluation.
