Colette Safford received her Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago. She also holds degrees in Criminal Justice and Mortuary Science,
Before joining the Will County Public Defender's Office on July 25, 2016, Ms. Safford spent years at a premiere litigation law firm working as a law clerk; and later as an attorney after being sworn in. During law school, she was a Rule 711 law clerk with the Will County and Cook County State's Attorney's Offices. Ms. Safford tried misdemeanor DUI cases as a first chair under the direction and supervision of a Cook County Assistant State's Attorney.
Ms. Safford is currently assigned to the Honorable Judge Paula Gomora's court call at the River Valley Justice Center where she handles juvenile delinquency, abuse, and neglect cases.
